What a beautiful Good Friday it was when we welcomed John Patrick into the world! His mommy had prepared for a medication and intervention-free birth, but little John Patrick decided to stubbornly hold out a full two weeks past his estimated due date. So, she headed to the hospital for a ‘light’ induction – with the amazing midwives at the Midwifery Center at DePaul who are wonderful at putting the wishes and needs of their patients first. She was also fortunate to have Amara Minnis as her doula for support throughout her labor and delivery.
I arrived to find mom-to-be in active labor and knew we would have a baby soon – but I didn’t know just how soon that would be. It was a little less than 2 hours after I arrived that this healthy baby boy was born in the water with his mommy and daddy right there to catch him. Congratulations, Cindy & Dan! Enjoy this peek into your birth experience!

I’d love to share them all, but this is supposed to be a ’sneak peek’!
It was so sweet when big brother arrived to meet the newest addition to the family! So, I must share one more.

You may have noticed a bit of change going on around the blog and Facebook page….my new logo design is nearly finished and I am SO excited to be re-branding with a focus on maternity, birth, and newborn photography!! With this branding change, I am also changing a bit of my offerings and you’ll slowly start to see those changes reflected in my galleries, pricing, and packages over the next few months. The biggest change is that I will no longer be offering family sessions in my regular calendar. I know that may surprise some of you – but those who know me know that my heart really is called to capture the precious time surrounding a baby’s birth. Therefore, I want to be able to open my calendar to maternity, birth, newborn, and baby’s first year sessions. I will still offer family mini-sessions once or twice a year (always in the fall for holiday cards and probably in the spring as I did this year) but I will only be booking a select few families each month and will try to reserve those sessions for current or former clients (you know I love you all!). All new family inquiries will be referred to other wonderful photographers in the area.
So, without further ado, here are a few snaps of each of the Spring Family Mini-Sessions held this past weekend! The day was GORGEOUS and the warm, glowing sunlight made the perfect backdrop for our mini-sessions!

I always jump at the chance to photograph newborn twins. It certainly takes extra time and patience, but the payoff is double the sweetness! I’ve been waiting for these guys to be born for a few weeks now – their momma was VERY strong and carried them all the way past 37 weeks despite being on bedrest for most of the pregnancy. Her birth story is amazing, too – after successfully delivering one baby, the other was born breech! {I told you she was strong!} Congrats again – and I hope you enjoy the sneak peek into our session!

This couple traveled from the Yorktown area to meet me downtown Norfolk for their special maternity session. I am so flattered that they chose me out of all the photographers in the area to capture such a special time in their family – the addition of their first child! We had to reschedule due to rainy weather, but this evening the light was just beautiful! Enjoy your sneak peek, Lee & Steve!

Last weekend was full of beautiful bellies – and since I’m behind on blogging my sessions (sorry, guys!) I thought it’d be fun to combine all of them into one beautiful, big, belly-licious blog post. {Say that three times fast!!}
In no particular order, here are some of my favorites from the weekend!
