Oh how I love these sun hazy, beachy images! This evening was gorgeous and after taking quite a few backlit photos, we just hung out together and chatted while the sun dipped slowly toward the horizon. Sometimes out on the beach, the beautiful sun can be too much and patience is our friend. Finally, we were able to start again and capture some of my favorite beach + belly images!

The first installment of my Belly to Baby Package is always fun. It’s the time when I get to know a new couple and capture their excitement and love as they prepare to welcome their new baby! This session was no exception. In fact, we had such a good time during our session that this couple met with me the next week to discuss birth photography and I’m thrilled to say that I will be there for the birth of their first child this spring!

This gorgeous lady had her heart set on a beach maternity session…..in February.
I explained to her that it can be awfully chilly and windy out on the beach in the winter, but that we’d see as the time got closer. What an evening it was – mid-50’s and drop-dead gorgeous lighting. And it didn’t hurt that she is also drop-dead gorgeous!! I’m posting her sneak peek here on the blog because neither she nor her deployed husband are on Facebook and I want to be sure that they get a chance to see a few of these beautiful images. Thank you so much for choosing me to capture that beautiful belly – I appreciate you coming all the way down from Williamsburg just for me! <3

This session was totally inspired by other photographers. I have been itching to find the ‘perfect’ field for some backlit, beautiful evening lit maternity images. While driving in the Pungo area, I spotted it and immediately had to try it out. I put out a call on my Facebook page for a model who was 30-36 weeks and would be willing to trudge outside with me (which since it’s January, is not always easy to find!). Luckily, we live in Virginia where it isn’t too terribly cold – at least this year – and this lovely young lady was the first to answer my call! I appreciate her willingness to sit, stand, and pose in a random field with me and I hope you enjoy the results as much as I do! I hope one of my future clients sees these and wants to go back there because I’d love to do this again!!

Two beautiful couples were squeezed in during the last week of 2011 – between all the family festivities and chaos of the holidays, of course! Here’s a peek at the images we captured:
