I realized after I chose my top ten maternity photos that nearly all of them are couples….and then I smiled. Many women contact me to schedule their newborn session and say, “I really don’t know that I want belly pictures, but maybe I should capture this time in our lives, too” and I respond with a resounding YES! Because I believe that maternity portraits aren’t just about the belly – they are a way to capture the love between two people, the love that created life. So capturing that relationship between parents-to-be is one of my favorite parts of maternity sessions and I hope it shows in my favorites from 2011!
{By the way, I think I could have chosen about 10 different maternity silhouettes to fill this list…it was hard to narrow those to just two!!}

I know most people don’t think that maternity photos can, or should, also be sexy, but I disagree. And this session proves it! The connection between this couple is obvious and it was so fun getting to know them.

This is the session that almost wasn’t, so I am so thrilled that we were able to capture this growing family! I won’t share the entire personal story, but let’s just say that the baby inside this belly very nearly made a too-early entrance to the world and I am so thankful that he or she decided to stay put for a while longer! Looking forward to capturing their home birth and finding out the gender of this little miracle soon.

I absolutely love it when my clients choose to wear color! I always talk in our pre-session consultation about the use of color, accessories, etc. – but when someone takes ALL my suggestions and shows up looking like a model, I know it’s going to be a good session! I had a great time out on the beach with this couple – you can definitely see and feel the love between them. This one, dare I say it, is quite *ahem* sexy!!! 
Truly, they are so gorgeous – as was the light this evening on the beach. At one point, we were walking along and chatting and I said “Stop right there!” I noticed how the sunlight was glowing on the back side of her hair and just had to photograph it right.that.minute!
And the rest of the session did not disappoint. Sorry for the delay in getting this sneak peek up, guys – but your full gallery will be up very soon!
