The 1st Birthday….it’s a time of celebration and maybe a little extra wistfulness. Most parents who come to my East Beach, Norfolk studio can’t believe it’s already been a year! They say that it feels like just yesterday when we were taking those newborn photos and their baby was brand new to the family. And now, he or she is starting to act more and more like a toddler!!

The first birthday cake smash session is one of my absolute favorites. I love creating something unique and special for each family who books a session with me. We always start with a few pictures of the baby in a special outfit or with their parents or siblings. Then we move on to the smashing fun and at the end, if the parents want, we plop that baby into our little clawfoot tub for some splashing and maybe even a few bubbles!! Our cake smash sessions are so very much fun!

When I went back in my archives to pick my Top 10 cake smashes of 2019, it was nearly impossible to choose! And choosing just ONE image from each session was absolutely not gonna happen!!
