It is an amazing thing to bring a baby into the world and even more awesome to do it on your own terms. I was thrilled to be asked to be present at a planned home birth - and this one was exciting in a way I never imagined!
I arrived to find a strong mother in the heart of strong labor pains. She and her birth team - supportive husband, comforting doula, competent midwives - were all there, ready to welcome this new life into the world.
But, after quite a few hours of hard labor, they made the decision to go to the hospital to be sure that mother and child would be safe. It got very hectic, very fast and I followed them as far as possible.
When I met up with them again, I was so happy to see a healthy mom holding a beautiful 10lb bundle of joy. Yes, I said 10lbs!!! Just look at those chubby cheeks - she is so squeezable!
You did an amazing job, Jenna and I am so privileged to have been allowed to witness and capture this momentous occasion.
Oh, and one last thing - I visited them at home today and have some of the most ADORABLE photos to share with you soon of this gorgeous girl!
